The Roles of the Section Chairs and Co-Chairs

Section Chairs and Co-Chairs are responsible for:

  • Developing a clear description of the Section's focus and Scope.
  • Evaluating all Panel and Paper proposals in their Section and ensuring their alignment with the Section theme.
  • Ensuring diversity of gender, geography, and career stages when forming Panels.  
  • Allocating individual paper proposals to panels or forming new panels from individual papers as needed.
  • Designating Chairs and Discussants for Panels where needed.
  • Reviewing Panels and Papers, and merging or creating panels as needed after the Registration Phase.
  • Providing the abstracts for the new Panels created under their section.
  • Reminding all Presenters in their Section to upload papers within the designated timeframe to facilitate productive discussions.

Panels and Papers Evaluation Phase

Once the proposal phase has closed, Section Chairs and Co-Chairs can access submitted Panel and Paper proposals through My Events under their My ECPR account. Review phase dates are listed on the event webpage, and an email notification is sent when the phase begins.


After reviewing proposals collaboratively, the Section Chair has the role and access to assign the decisions: approved, declined, or reserved, on all Panel and Paper proposals in their Section through their My Events page.  


Result Notification

Proposers will be notified by email of the decision on their Panel and/or Paper..
